Pakistan’s exports to Kenya surge 32% in 9MFY26

Pakistan’s exports to Kenya have witnessed a substantial surge during the first nine months (July–March) of fiscal year 2025–26, which reflects growing trade ties between the two countries.

According to official figures from the Ministry of Commerce’s Trade Analytics Portal, exports to Kenya reached $319.9m, marking a 32% increase from $251.6m recorded during the same period last year.

This notable growth has positioned Kenya among Pakistan’s top five global export destinations and its largest market in Africa, according to a press release issued.

Rafique Suleman, President of the Pakistan Kenya Business Council and former Chairman of the Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan, highlighted the encouraging trend, noting that rice exports have been a key driver of this expansion.

He emphasized that access through the Port of Mombasa has played a crucial role in enabling Pakistani goods to reach not only Kenya but also the wider East African region.

In addition to rice, Pakistan’s export portfolio to Kenya has diversified significantly.

Key exports now include used clothing, pharmaceuticals, textiles, garments, sports goods, IT services, software solutions, and solar and renewable energy products, all of which are gaining traction in the regional market.

Rafique Suleman further pointed out that the Port of Mombasa serves as a strategic gateway, facilitating the distribution of Pakistani products to neighboring countries such as Uganda, South Sudan, and Rwanda, thereby extending Pakistan’s trade footprint across East Africa.

He also acknowledged the support of the Government of Pakistan and key stakeholders, crediting Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan for his policy direction.

He appreciated the efforts of Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Kenya, Ibrahim Khan, and Commercial Counsellor Adila Younis for strengthening bilateral trade relations.

Additionally, he recognized the contributions of Javed Jelani, Senior Vice Chairman of the Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan, for his continued support to exporters.

The statement emphasizes the importance of regional peace and stability in sustaining trade growth, highlighting the role of Pakistan’s leadership in fostering a conducive environment for economic cooperation.

Reaffirming their commitment, the Pakistan Kenya Business Council and the Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan pledged continued support to exporters, aiming to sustain and further enhance this positive momentum in the months ahead.
